To be or not to be, when it comes to blogging...

It seems like a lot of us bloggers are hit with indecision once in a while.
It happens to me at least once a week.
To continue blogging or not?

Anyway, I hear it from other bloggers every now and again.
Do you ever feel this way?
My thinking is this (and this advice is mostly for myself, but take it if you need it):
When considering quitting, consider this:
What does blogging do for you?
Do you enjoy it?
Does writing out loud give you confidence?
Does blogging bring you peace of mind?

For me the answer to all three questions is, yes!

Does it really matter if you get
or visits
or followers
if you are getting so much from blogging?
Does it really matter if you would be missed or not?
Because wouldn't you miss blogging more?
Does it really matter if anyone else cares what you post?
Because you probably care more than anyone else possibly could!

So bottom line,
if you want to blog, blog.
If you don't, don't.
Simple. As. That.

(I should mention that I never plan to stop blogging)

Amen, girl! I found myself getting caught up in big can I get my blog to be game. Then I realized that my blog is for me to get things off my chest. Free therapy if you will. I enjoy receiving comments and making connections, but there are so many other things I want to and need to do that there just isn't enough time to do all things necessary to hit it "Big Time." Thanks for the reminder!

I love this post!

I always kind of shake my head when someone announces they are done for good. Really? After having it be such a big part of your life, you are quitting? Nothing wrong with taking a step back if you need to, but leave it there to go back to when you want.

That's the beauty of blogging!

I can say YES to your questions, too. :)

I consider my blog a journal. I intend to print it one day...

Well said! I do find myself sometimes thinking it would be great to have more followers and all that, and wondering why such and such blog has 100 followers, and I don't...but when I take a step back I realize that I'm blogging because I want to, and I enjoy it. Followers are fun, but they shouldn't be the reason I'm blogging. I'm glad you don't plan to stop. : )

I really think we all just hit our slumps, and when life gets busy and our blogging schedules get interrupted we feel behind. But life is still more important!

You said it! When I'm not in the mood, I just allow myself time off and it took a while, but I realize that's ok!

So true! Whenever I feel overwhelmed I just take a step away for a bit and then regroup. Blogging has become so important in my life...yes it can be hard to keep up but like you said its not about the numbers, comments, etc its more about what it does for you....and for me it gives me an outlet and helps me from going insane!
